The answer is, "Yes, it will work in Europe, but at a price."

This is probably the biggest concern of both teens and parents. Will I be able to communicate?  There are alternatives to cell phone usage.  FaceTime, Skype, even internet calling when we have WiFi...

Fortunately, most cell providers now have an international calling plan for Europe.  I use Verizon.  Their international plan is called TravelPass.  It allows me to use my cell phone in Europe for $10 per day(24 hr period from first use).  That includes any call or text that you make or receive.  It's very simple to set up online and adjust your phone for use in Europe.

Students and parents will have to decide the best way for their family to communicate during this trip.

Warning:  Your cell phone will also work in Europe WITHOUT an international plan which will activate ALL of the roaming charges on your local service and leave you with a HUGE bill once we return.  Be careful !!!
